Surah Name: An-Naml Meaning: The Ant
Walaqad atayna dawooda wasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdu lillahi allathee faddalana AAala katheerin min AAibadihi almumineen(a) And assuredly We-SWT vouchsafed to Daud-AS and Sulaiman-AS, knowledge, and the twain said: Praise be to Allah-SWT who has preferred us to many of His-SWT believing bondmen! (27:15) |
Wawaritha sulaymanu dawooda waqala ya ayyuha a(l)nnasu AAullimna mantiqa a(l)ttayri waooteena min kulli shayin inna hatha lahuwa alfadlu almubeen(u) And Sulaiman-AS inherited from Daud-AS, and he-AS said: O mankind! We-AS have been taught the language of birds, and we-AS have been vouchsafed of everything, and surely this is an evident grace (27:16) |
وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَانَ جُنُودُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ Wahushira lisulaymana junooduhu mina aljinni wa(a)linsi wa(al)ttayri fahum yoozaAAoon(a) And there were gathered unto Sulaiman-AS his-AS hosts of Jinn and mankind and birds, and they were set in bands. (27:17) |
Hatta itha ataw AAala wadi a(l)nnamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuha a(l)nnamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakum sulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroon(a) And when they came to the valley of the ants, an ant said: Ants! Enter your habitations lest Sulaiman-AS and his-AS hosts may crush you while they perceive not. (27:18) |
Fatabassama dahikan min qawliha waqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadika a(l)ssaliheen(a) So, amused at her speech, he-AS smiled and said Rabb-SWT ! Dispose me that I should be grateful for the favour wherewith You-SWT have favoured me and my parents, and that I should work righteously pleasing You-SWT ; and out of Your-SWT Mercy enter me among Your-SWT righteous bondmen. (27:19) |
وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِيَ لَا أَرَى الْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ الْغَائِبِينَ Watafaqqada a(l)ttayra faqala ma liya la ara alhudhuda am kana mina alghaibeen(a) And he-AS sought after the birds and said: What is the matter that I do not see the hoophoe, is he among the absentees? (27:20) |
لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا أَوْ لَأَذْبَحَنَّهُ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّي بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ LaoAAaththibannahu AAathaban shadeedan aw laathbahannahu aw layatiyannee bisultanin mubeen(in) I shall chastise him surely or I shall slaughter him unless he offers me a good explanation. (27:21) |
Famakatha ghayra baAAeedin faqala ahattu bima lam tuhit bihi wajituka min sabain binabain yaqeen(in) But he stayed away not long, and said: I have comprehended what you-AS have not yet comprehended, and I came to you-AS from Saba with a sure tiding (27:22) |
إِنِّي وَجَدتُّ امْرَأَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَأُوتِيَتْ مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٌ Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyat min kulli shayin walaha AAarshun AAatheem(un) I have found a woman ruling over them, and she has been vouchsafed of everything. And hers is a mighty throne (27:23) |
Wajadtuha waqawmaha yasjudoona li(l)shshamsi min dooni Allahi wazayyana lahumu a(l)shshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani a(l)ssabeeli fahum la yahtadoon(a) I have found her and her people adoring the sun instead of Allah-SWT , and Satan has made their work fair seeming to them and has barred them from the way, as they are not guided. (27:24) |
Alla yasjudoo lillahi allathee yukhriju alkhabaa fee a(l)ssamawati wa(a)lardi wayaAAlamu ma tukhfoona wama tuAAlinoon(a) So that they adore not Allah-SWT Who brings forth the hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you declare. (27:25) |
اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ Allahu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheem(i) Allah-SWT ! There is no God but He-SWT ! The Rabb-SWT of the Magnificent Throne. (27:26) |
قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ Qala sananthuru asadaqta am kunta mina alkathibeen(a) Sulaiman-AS said: We shall now see whether you have spoken the truth or whether you are of the liars. (27:27) |
اذْهَب بِّكِتَابِي هَذَا فَأَلْقِهْ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ Ithhab bikitabee hatha faalqih ilayhim thumma tawalla AAanhum faonthur matha yarjiAAoon(a) Go you with this letter of mine, and cast it down unto them and turn aside from them, and see what they return. (27:28) |
قَالَتْ يَا أَيُّهَا المَلَأُ إِنِّي أُلْقِيَ إِلَيَّ كِتَابٌ كَرِيمٌ Qalat ya ayyuha almalao innee olqiya ilayya kitabun kareem(un) She said O Chiefs! There has been cast to us an honourable epistle. (27:29) |
إِنَّهُ مِن سُلَيْمَانَ وَإِنَّهُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ Innahu min sulaymana wainnahu bismi Allahi a(l)rrahmani a(l)rraheem(i) It is from Sulaiman-AS, and it runs In the Name of Allah-SWT The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful. (27:30) |
أَلَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَيَّ وَأْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ Alla taAAloo AAalayya watoonee muslimeen(a) Rise not against me, and come to me submissive. (27:31) |
